San Francisco Trip. July 13- 19, 2002.

back

We took a trip to San Francisco to see the sights. We ended up staying in Santa Clara and split our time commuting to the city or visiting the surrounding places.

Helen and family at the beach

This beach was like one in Oregon (cold and windy.)

A view from Highway 101.

Caught in the act of capturing lifetime memories.

(Obviously) The Golden Gate Bridge. We drove across two times.

Where did that bridge go?

Alcatraz Island. Used to house many prisoners.

Another National Geographic-type photo of a rather clean alley in Carmel.

Carmel, CA has numerous European influences. There were lots of people walking their dogs around (like in Paris), many expensive shops, and a healthy artist community.

Window shoppers in Carmel.

Chinatown.

Mother and daughter at the Stanford Shopping mall. Chelsea Clinton was nowhere in sight.

Pier 39 in Fisherman's wharf.

Fisherman's wharf. (Feels like Seattle.)

A very crooked street. I drove down it and it wasn't as bad as it looks.

Lombard Street. Quite crooked as you can see.

A view of the city from Lombard street.

Welcome to Stanford.

Stanford walkway.

A very spacious courtyard at Stanford.

The halls of learning at Stanford.

Stanford in bloom.

A mural at Stanford.

Sausalito is a small town just North of the Golden Gate bridge.

A National Geographic moment in Sausalito.
